Can you buy a whole new PC for $150? And can you fit it in your palm? Probably not, unless you get one like the mini PC in this video. We’re testing the small, but relatively well equipped Beelink S12 Pro mini PC. It packs an Intel Alder Lake based N100 processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD in size just little more than the palm of a hand. Join us as we explore its features, test its performance, and see if it lives up to the hype. Let’s unbox, set up, and dive into the (small) world of the Beelink S12 Pro.
Quick specs overview of the Beelink S12 Pro:
Processor: Beelink S12 Pro is equipped with an Intel N100 processor (4 cores, 4 threads, 6 MB L3 cache) with a maximum clock speed of up to 3.4GHz. It’s based on the Gracemont architecture E-cores used in the bigger Alder Lake models, but it is specified to run at only 6 W TDP. At least officially, in the BeeLink S12 Pro it’s TDP is raised to 20 W with option to rise it even higher to 30 W. That lets it keep it maximum turbo clocks all the time, that is 3,4 GHz single core and 2,933 MHz for all cores.
Memory: It comes with 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM, providing ample size for such a small device and assures responsive experience. That is the maximum available memory for the Intel N100 CPU.
Storage: The mini PC includes a 500GB M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (Solid State Drive) for storage. Unfortunately it is limited to only x1 PCI Express performance, which severely limits it’s throughput. Additionally, the BeeLink S12 Pro supports the addition of a 2.5-inch SSD (not included) with size up to 2TB.
Graphics: The mini PC features Intel UHD Xe based graphics with 24 execution units, that support 4K video playback, providing a smooth visual experience. The clock speed however is limited to 750 MHz, or about half of the speed of UHD730 used in larger Intel desktop processors. It also has dual HDMI ports, allowing you to connect two monitors simultaneously for increased productivity.
Compact Design: The S12 Pro has a small form factor, measuring approximately 11,5 x 10,2 x 3,9 cm. (4.52 x 4.01 x 1.54 inches). It includes an efficient cooling fan and a large area air duct for improved heat dissipation, ensuring stable operation with minimal noise. The maximum noise we measured was only about 40,7 dB under load with about 34,4 dB in idle. Temps get rather toasty, but still within specs, with maximum measured of 87 C during gaming, with idle dropping to 48 C.
Wireless Connectivity: The mini PC supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.2 for high-speed wireless connections, providing faster internet experiences for browsing, streaming, and gaming. Additionally you also have a 1Gbit Ethernet port for wired network connection.
More Connectivity: The mini PC offers 4 USB 3.2×2 (10 Gbit/s) USB ports (2 in the front and 2 at the back). Additionally you have a combined audio port (headphones + mic) in the front.
