Results in Games.

On the gaming front, Intel processors finally managed to demonstrate superiority, with the Core i5-9600KF dominating most of the game results, especially by winning all average FPS results, with the exception of CSGO. But Ryzen 5 3600X and Ryzen 3 3300X are remaining quite close to it and in some cases provide better 1% low results. With the simulated Coe i5-9400F the situation is a bit more vague, as in the different games it exchanges wins and loses compared to the Ryzen 3 3300X, and the end result overall less than 1% difference in its favour, so basically both processors are matched.

Below this group remain the Ryzen 5 2600 and Ryzen 3 3100, which seems to mostly perform similarly until you take a look at the minimum framerates. There Ryzen 5 2600 gives a pretty decent 14-15% higher results in Shadow of the Tomb Rider, Assassins Creed Odyssey, Battlefield V, Call of Duty : Warzone and Overwatch, which demonstrates that it benefits from having more cores in some games. To that we should also add the notably higher average framerates in Warzone and Overwatch. It is not all sunshine and rainbows for the older Zen+ model, as it still manages to take a more notable losses in CSGO and both Fortnite tests against the new addition. The final result is relative parity between the two, though with slight lead for the older 6-core.

The comparison between Ryzen 5 2600 and Ryzen 3 3300X is way less gentle for the older model, as the new 4-core Zen 2 based processor is universally faster in all games, except for Assassins Creed Odyssey. What is more in some cases the difference is in the excess of 15% up to about 20%, making the new model notably faster on average.

And finally let’s talk about the comparison between 2 + 2 cores and 4 + 0 cores. Despite our expectations that the difference will be blurred by the higher details, Ryzen 3 3300X demonstrates the benefit of the combined cache and the lack of additional communication between the individual CCXs, showing more than 10% higher results in SOTTR, Gears 5 and all the online games (Fortnite, CS:GO, Apex Legends, COD: Warzone, Overwatch) in both medium and minimum, while in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, BattleField V and The Division 2 the lead was only in the minimum frames. With typical differences of about 15-20% with peaks to almost 40%, however, it is obvious that the single CCX organization has it’s notable merits for gaming. Still the expectations of lower difference than between Ryzen 3 1200 and 1200 AF also proved to be true. In general however we think that considering only gaming, Ryzen 3 3300X is definitely the better processor from the 2 newcomers
