GeForce GTX 1650 has a nice lead of around 30% over the older GTX 1050 Ti. However that is still well below the results of the Radeon RX 570. In fact the now quite old AMD Polaris part has a neat 20% more performance, basically a whole tier more. Granted, the Sapphire Nitro + OC is probably the highest clocked part on the market (1340 MHz boost clock), and also to most power hungry of the series, but in any case we don’t see how 1650 can close the gap even to the lower clocked RX 570-ties. And to add insult to injury, the Radeon RX 570 are at the moment quite a bit cheaper. Running quick search on Amazon.de, gave as 170 euro for the cheapest price for the new GeForce GTX 1650. That is against 149 euro for Sapphire Nitro + version and 129 for the cheapest RX 570. Moreover some of the more “premium” versions of GTX 1650 are even over 200 euro, almost at the territory of GeForce GTX 1660, which is another 22% faster than RX 570, or over 45% faster than our GTX 1660. Yes, some of those 1650’s use external power connector and have higher clocks, but still that can’t compensate 45% difference.
All this you can see in our price to performance charts. This time we decided to approximate a little cheaper version of the test system, that can be had if you swap the quite pricey water cooling with a more conventional air cooling, cheapen up the ram a little (for example go for DDR4-3000 CL16 kit, instead of the FlareX DDR-3200CL4) and take a cheaper case. Yes, CPU performance in that case will be a tad lower, but it will not have effect with such cards, and we think it is more realistic use case. You can even argue for 500 euro Core i5-9400F system, but there was not much difference in the overall rating in our calculations. The most bang for the buck is still GeForce GTX 1660, as it offers a large performance increase, followed relatively closely by Radeon RX 570. Then trailing quite a bit behind are the GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1650. Not good value in any case.
